Happy Monday

A Hundred Years Time

In a hundred years time it won't matter
if the house you've lived in wasn't done,
the garden and outside wasn't finished,
or the chores not even begun.

In a hundred years time it won't matter
if the paint still sat in the tin,
that was meant for the wall in the study.
would it really be such a sin?

In a hundred years time it won't matter
if that shiny new car was not yours?
Or that fancy new watch you'd admired
still sat in the case at the stores?

In a hundred years time it won't matter
if you were never on TV,
You'd never reached Hollywood stardom
or even been in a movie.

At sunset a graveyard is quiet
As you quietly move through the leaves
You'll see life summed up on each headstone.
What kind of treasures are these?

Store up your treasures in heaven
where thieves and moths cannot find.
Love God, love your neighbor as yourself,
be patient, gentle, and kind.

Live today and enjoy it.
Grasp every moment you can.
For life is the eternal race-
No winners, it's just that you ran.
'unknown'

1 John 3:1 (KJV)
Behold, what manner of love
the Father hath bestowed upon us,
that we should be called
the sons of God: therefore
the world knoweth us not,
because it knew him not.

May your day be glorious and
May His graces abound to you!

In The News:
Eritrean Christian Dies in Prison
A Christian woman perished from pneumonia in an Eritrean prison after facing harsh conditions and denial of medical treatment -- all because she would not renounce her faith, Baptist Press reports . Wehazit Berhane Debesai is the 25th known Christian to have died in prison in Eritrea. According to a report from Open Doors USA, the exact date of death of the woman in her 30s is unknown. Eritrean authorities arrested her a year ago and held her near the Ethiopian border for being involved in Christian activities outside the Orthodox, Catholic and Evangelical Lutheran church groups. Debesai's death came as government forces arrested 70 Christians who met for prayer in the capital of Asmara. This latest development brings the total number of Christians arrested this year in Eritrea to nearly 300. Local Christians call it the government's most serious campaign against the church so far.

Court Reinstates Most of Texas' Abortion Restrictions
A federal appeals court has reinstated most of Texas' new abortion standards, CBN News reports . One of the new measures requires all abortion doctors to have admitting privileges at a hospital less than 30 miles away. Twelve of the 32 abortion clinics in the state are not connected to hospitals, so they will have to stop performing abortions. A federal judge ruled Monday that the new law was unconstitutional and blocked it from taking effect, but on Thursday the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the measures can take effect immediately. Texas Attorney General Greg Abbot had made an emergency appeal to the conservative 5th Circuit, arguing that the law requiring doctors to have admitting privileges is a constitutional use of the legislature's authority. Abbot said in a statement Thursday that "this unanimous decision is a vindication of the careful deliberation by the Texas Legislature to craft a law to protect the health and safety of Texas women." Planned Parenthood vowed to continue its fight against the new laws.
