Walk in the Spirit
"Walk in the Spirit and ye
shall not fulfill the lusts (desires, urges) of the flesh" Galatians
5:16. Please notice very carefully. God did not say you won’t have any
desires of the flesh but you will not fulfill the desires or urges of
the flesh. There have been all kinds of movements, plans, methods to
overcome temptations and live a victorious Christian life. People talk
about being sanctified wholly. God says very simply "Walk in the Spirit
and ye shall not fulfill the lusts (desires) of the flesh.
We all need to
learn to walk...in the Spirit. First, every believer, every Christian
has the Holy Spirit . "Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ he
is none of his" Romans 8:9. The question is does the Holy Spirit have
you. The first step is to "present your body a living sacrifice holy,
acceptable unto God which is your reasonable service. And be not
conformed to this world but be ye transformed by the renewing of your
mind that ye may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will
of God" Romans 12:1,2. This must be a genuine act of your will.
As a new baby does
when it starts walking, they stumble from time to time and have to get
back up and keep walking. As we must do. Begin right now. Present your
body, soul, and spirit to the Lord. Ask Him to take control and run your
life. "Be still and know He is God."
