THE PRICE OF UNBELIEF
By the late Pastor Bob Hanna
Scripture Reading: Revelation 20:15
The fundamental principle of the requirement for salvation has
always, in every dispensation, been belief in God - on His terms.
"Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for
righteousness" (Galatians 3:6). "It pleased God by the foolishness
of preaching to save them that believe" (I Corinthians 1:21). "For
God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that
whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have
ever-lasting life" (John 3:16).
But there is a dark side: "He that believeth on Him is not
condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because
he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God"
(John 3:18). "He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved;
but he that believeth not shall be damned" (Mark 16:16). Christ
warned of the day that He will return in judgment and vengeance.
"HE shall set the sheep [the saved] on His right hand, but the
goats [the lost] on the left. Then shall He say also unto them on
the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire,
prepared for the devil and his angels: And these shall go away
into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal"
(Matthew 25:33,41,46).
True to His promise, when the Lord returns, "In flaming fire
taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the
gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ" (II Thessalonians I:8). He will
seal the doom of the wicked. They will finally appear before the
Great White Throne, and be judged and "cast into the lake of fire"
(Revelation 20:15).
