Brick Walls
Kevin Corbin
I don't know that I've ever physically run into a brick wall in my life, but our old house had a brick chimney that jutted out from the wall and I ran into it more than once. I can attest to the fact that my body gave in and the brick still stood.
Bricks and concrete blocks are great building materials because of their durability. When you're working with them though you sometimes run into situations where you need to cut one of them in half. If you smash it with a hammer, it may break, but almost never the way you want it to. If you use the claw of the hammer and by tapping, gently score lines along both sides of the blocks or brick, it will break cleanly where you want it to.
Sometimes we pray for something and it seems like the prayers are bouncing back from heaven unanswered as if they hit a brick wall. Sometimes we share the gospel over and over again without seeing any results.
Sometimes it seems like every tool in the enemy's box is being used against us. At other times we struggle with persistent barriers to our walk with God. They feel like brick walls we are hitting and it seems every time we back get up and start moving they bounce us right off again.
Don't be discouraged. Persevere. Keep on praying and keep on trying. Each time you are scoring the line a little more and with patience it will break.
James 1:2-4 NIV
Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
God promises us that we are overcomers. Sometimes we overcome the enemy in great strides and victories; the walls just crumble before us like they did at Jericho. Other times we overcome by gentle tapping and persistence.
Would you help us spread the word about "Gleanings"? Tell your friends and family about us and encourage them to subscribe for themselves. Help us to take the good news of Jesus Christ to people around the globe. Help us to encourage and challenge believers in their faith walk. I know there are many people out there who could benefit greatly from what we do. Will you help them find us? Thanks.
Hallelu Yah (Praise God)
Be blessed
Kevin

BOSSES NIGHT
At an annual Bosses Night dinner for Helena, Montana, lawyers, sponsored by legal secretaries, it was time to announce the Boss of the Year. The master of ceremonies began: "First of all, our winner is a graduate of the University of Montana. So that already eliminates some of you as candidates."
"Our winner also is a partner in a downtown Helena law firm. That eliminates some more of you. "Our nominee is honest, upright, dedicated..."
A voice from the audience cut in: "Well, there go the rest of us!"
