Jeremiah 2:11 Hath a nation changed their gods, which are
yet no gods? but my people have changed their glory for that which doth not
profit.
People can make anyone or anything their god. Gods of this
world can be a sports hero or movie star or anything (t.v.) we set before us
and give our attention to. People change their gods with each season of the
year, or, new make of auto.
Christian folk need to be careful what takes up most of our
time. If we put anything or anyone before Jesus we do wrong and we can expect
reproof from God. We will not “profit” because we are “glorying” in the things
of this world. To glory is to brag about or give credit to and I’m afraid the
world today is glorying in itself!
Times and people have always changed and it seems to be
getting worse. We have seen a rapid decline in morality and character this last
fifty years. While at the same time we have seen crime and sin increase just as
rapidly.
The answer, of course, is Jesus. He is the answer to all our
problems.
Our nation has gotten worse off because Americans have
“changed their gods” No President, actor, or singer is the Messiah. Jesus has
come already. Do you know Him?
